John F. Carey, known as Jack, is a veteran trial attorney and retired Navy Captain whose practice focuses on criminal defense across Boston and the Greater Boston area. As the founder of Carey Law Offices, Jack has represented thousands of clients in Massachusetts trial courts, defending cases ranging from OUI and firearms charges to complex narcotics, violent crimes, and white-collar offenses. He is recognized for his thorough preparation, tenacious courtroom advocacy, and unwavering dedication to protecting the rights of his clients in the face of serious criminal allegations.

In addition to his Massachusetts practice, Jack is a qualified solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland, where he represented clients in Dublin and throughout Ireland in criminal, civil, and maritime disputes. This unique international background allows him to approach cases with a comparative and strategic perspective rarely found in local practices. He was also a former candidate for district attorney for the Cape and Islands.

Jack’s legal career is grounded in three decades of service in the United States Navy, both active and reserve (1990–2020), culminating in his retirement at the rank of Captain. His final tours included serving on the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) staff in Washington, D.C., where he advised on national security, maritime law, and strategic mobility. His leadership in Iraq and Afghanistan earned him the Bronze Star, and his experience commanding large, complex organizations informs the discipline and resolve he brings to every client matter.

Whether representing a client in a Boston courtroom or counseling a business owner through a legal dispute, Jack blends his Navy-tested judgment, international legal experience, and proven courtroom skills to deliver trusted, effective representation.
